About Sight Reading Practice
Sight Reading Practice is a free place to practice reading music. It makes new sight-reading exercises at the level you choose, checks each note as you play along, drills note names until they are automatic, and lets you practice the music you are actually learning.
It works for pianists, singers and any instrument that reads treble or bass clef, from a first lesson to preparing for a sight-reading exam. It runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and it works offline once it has loaded.
Why it exists
The only way to get better at sight-reading is to read a lot of music you haven’t seen before, and to find out quickly whether you read it correctly. Books run out of exercises and don’t tell you what you missed. Sight Reading Practice never runs out, and it tells you right away.
How it is paid for
Sight Reading Practice is free, with no account and no paid tier. It shows a small number of ads, each clearly labelled and placed away from the practice controls so they don’t get in the way while you read. If you would like to help keep it running, you can also support Sight Reading Practice directly.
Your data
Your progress and saved pieces are stored in your own browser. There is nothing to sign up for, and nothing you practice is uploaded. The privacy policy has the details, including how advertising works.
