This policy explains what information Sight Reading Practice (“we”, “the site”) uses, where it is stored, and the choices you have. The short version: your practice data stays on your device, and the site is funded by ads from Google, which use cookies.

Information stored on your device

Sight Reading Practice saves your settings, practice progress and any pieces you enter in your browser’s local storage on your device. This information is not sent to us or to anyone else. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.

Microphone and MIDI keyboards

If you choose to use your microphone or a MIDI keyboard to check your playing, the sound or key presses are analysed on your device, in your browser, to work out which note you played. Audio is never recorded, stored or uploaded. Your browser asks for your permission first, and you can withdraw it in your browser’s site settings.

Share links

When you use Share link, the notes and title of your piece are written into the link itself. Anyone you send the link to can see that music. The link is not stored by us.

Advertising

Sight Reading Practice uses Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Fonts and hosting

Text fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address in order to deliver them. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and reliability. We do not use these to identify you.

Children

Sight Reading Practice is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. Children are welcome to practice with a parent’s or teacher’s guidance; no account or personal information is needed to use it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
